Basti

is the third and the most important treatment amongst the five detoxifying – cleansing therapies broadly known as Panchkarma or Shodhana therapies. It helps to clear the lower part of the GI tract & is the best remedial solution for Vata dosha.

Vasti is a main treatment form of Ayurveda, specially considering for the treatments of rheumatic diseases. Procedure of Basti
At first, a gentle massage is carried out on the stomach and the back, followed by a light fomentation either by nadisweda or by a towel dipped in hot water. This is followed by the introduction of the specially prepared sneha basti oil / medicine through the anal cavity of the patient with the help of a lubricated rubber flatus tube attached to basti yantra. This is an absolutely painless procedure. The medicine introduced in such a procedure is retained for a longer time in the body.

Sneha Basti must be carried out on a full stomach.

After Basti Treatment
There are no specific dietary restrictions after the Sneha Basti. However, the patient is advised not to have heavy meals during the course
